30k Alpha Legion - Final Update Today

Hey all,

New pictures of the models with a black background as requested! I'm hoping to get another 10 of these painted fully by Friday evening!

Peace out,

  2. Almost there buddy! Almost there! Now frame the photo so you only have the grey behind them (or crop) then tweak the levels slightly. (and clean your camera lens, that is why it looks all glowy/foggy).

Then put the phone/camera down against a static object, and use the timer. Set it and walk away till it takes the photo. Repeat. Will come out much sharper and cleaner.

Just saying this cause I can see all those beautiful details. Showcase them! :)

Example of some tweaking with a shot given.

  3. I really like whats going on, have you run through the process yet? I can't find it but it looks like a simple base colour, wash and then just small highlights. Then it's the other details - the metal, damage, some small patina and the pretty effective OSL on the lenses that takes it from the mundane to the special. If it's that simple and quick then it;s definitel a technique I think I need to adopt, should I ever have another force that needs painting ;)

    1. I haven't run through it yet, but its pretty much as you say aside from a few extra stages prior to base coat, but they are mostly using multiple spray cans for the undercoat and a wash of coelia greenshade.

Oh you know you'll start another one!

    1. Thanks man! I appreciated the OSL advice, it definitely looks better restricted to near the eyes

  5. I really like them. A great colour scheme.

I also vote red planet. It will be a nice contrast against the blue/green

    1. Cheers Naf :) I don't think I'll ever be able to paint "clean" like you do, but beat up and battered suits me well enough!

I think red planet has definitely won the peoples heart!
