Kromlech Releases - Chaos Winged Jump Pack

Hey all,

As I often do, rambling my way around the internet and looking in nooks and crannies for third party miniature bits, I come to Kromlech, and something always catches my eye! In this case, they have released some rather demonic looking jump packs designed for chaos forces. 

These would do very well for a Night Lords army to my mind, or as an addition to any Warp Talon or Raptor squad. Bear in mind that these are resin, so a little bit of hot water should allow you to bend the wings to achieve less flat posing. 

In the event of 8th Edition 40k rewarding themed armies, hopefully we'll be seeing more Night Lords armies and Raptors in general!

MOAR Kromlech New Release! Legions Quad Lascannon

Hey gang,

Despite only posting up a Kromlech new release a few days ago they are already unveiling more designs that fit their heavy weapons platform. I was asked variously about other heavy weapons on this platform and now that they have shown off this Quad Lascannon, I think its safe to assume that most if not all of the Rapier weapons available to the Legiones Astartes will be released. 

I'd just like to note as well that I don't have any sort of inside track on these new releases, so I have no idea what is coming up next! I'm just a nerd who spends his lunch hours trawling third party sites to see what is coming up :) enjoy the pics!

Kromlech - Jump Pack and Chain Swords Review

Hi everyone,

So recently I've been going over some purchases I made from Anvil Industry which I've been using to build a custom Emperor's Children force for use in 30k. Considerably cheaper than buying all the bits from forgeworld and just a lot of fun pick-and-mixing different parts to get a unique looking force! 

The majority of parts were from Anvil, but I also picked up so choice pieces from Kromlech to complement. This is either because the aesthetic of the Anvil pieces didn't quite fit what I had in mind or they simply didn't sell them. So below I've got just a few shots of some Kromlech goodies :)

Jump Pack

I really like the beefy look of these jump packs and the direction of the thruster outlets. I also like the somewhat more modern juxtaposition to the more archaic forms of armour that I have chosen from Anvil. The pieces themselves come as a single jump pack with two separate end pieces to attach to the bottom of the jump pack at the point where the sprue is cut off. The jump pack has attachment points that are supposed to sit inside a recess on the thruster attachments, but I found these to not sit flush and it was easier to just cut the bottom of the jump pack flush for a nice tight fit.

Really good detail and a nice feel to the resin itself.

Chain Swords

I bought two packs of these chain swords that come in four different designs. I really like not having exactly the same chain sword for everyone, particularly in a legion known for ego and flamboyance like the Emperor's Children. These had a lot more sprue attached than I was expecting but it was pretty easy to remove and clean the flash. Though there were a few points were several small cuts was better than a big slice with a scalpel as the first time I did that it pinged off the pommel guard along with it! 

These have some particularly brutal designs festooned with different cutting blades that I think are really cool. In terms of attaching them to the miniatures I used the plethora of spare hands you get with the Anvil Industry guns which looks absolutely fine once you have cut space from the hilt of the swords and inserted the fist in (so to speak!).

Plasma Cannon

Recently Kromlech have been pumping out excellent alternative special and heavy weapons for the legions and this plasma cannon is just such an example of one! I didn't order this beast but Kromlech threw it in as part of a promotion for these new pieces which was a very pleasant surprise! Still figuring out how to fit in to the army somewhere so may end up buying four more anyway... Damn you Kromlech!

Overview

Very little bought compared to Anvil but this was my first decent order size of any kind from Kromlech and I was very pleased with the delivery speed considering they came from Poland, less than a week certainly. 

The items themselves were very well packaged and there were no breakages on arrival. The detailing, particularly on the chain swords is very very fine and I am really looking forward to painting them up to pull all that detail out. 

I've been looking at putting a larger order in for some other Kromlech goodies in the coming months so expect to see more from this awesome outfit. I thoroughly recommend :)

Kromlech - New shinies and a weekend Promo!

Hi Gang,

Another post today about some gubbins that crossed my path. I spend a good amount of time each week going through my favourite third party retailers to see what new stuff has been popping up and recently Kromlech have been knocking it out of the park!

They have recently produced a whole line of under slung heavy weapons as an alternative to the rifle style of GW. I personally prefer this style, with the general position and wrist brace making it seem a damn sight more effective at wielding these weapons. 

Magma Cannon

First up we have a multi melta equivalent which has lovely detail and looks suitably bad ass indeed.

Lascannon

The lascannon looks a damn sight more portable than the GW equivalent too. 

I think these also present ripe opportunities for creating your own kind of powered back pack as the weapons seems to have a decent space at the back for drilling allowing you to add your own power cables in. I'm currently designing some very small lists for 30k to represent loyalist sections of traitor legions on Istvann III so I hope to procure some of these and make a decent review out of them :)

Jump pack Promo! Chaos and Loyalist

Finally I also noticed this morning that they have a 20% off sale on their jump packs till the end of the weekend! The chaos ones I love as they are reminiscent of the old metal raptor jump packs, which are to my mind still the quintessential raptor jump pack, with that slightly sloped intake grill. 

Both sets though do have a more downward angled outlet which looks more realistic and practical to my eye. 

Anyway I hope these are of interest and I'll be back with actual hobby updates tomorrow :)

Kromlech - New Awesome Shiny Stuff for Space Marines

Hey gang,

Just a quick post today! I follow a lot of different manufacturers and like to see whats coming out in terms of alternative parts for conversions and proxies. Recently Kromlech has added a good deal of new items to its product line that are absolutely fantatsic, I thought I'd just cover a few of my favourite pieces in a post :) click the headers for a link to the webstore.

Plasma Cannon

This is styled very much along the line of the 30k heavy bolter from the Betrayal at Calth set or like the new Frag Cannon launched with the Deathwatch line. I really like how this looks and its a nice alternative to the traditional style plasma cannon which looks somewhat burdensome to carry.

Neo-Reich Bike

I've never been a big fan of the regular space marine bikes, and this chunky tracked alternative is right up my street with a distinctly weird world war II feel to my eyes. It looks a lot more capable of travelling over churned ground with its tracked edges and looks a lot more deserving of the increased toughness in the bikers profile with its heavily armoured front.

Frag Cannon

Yes they've got one too! I really like the underslung magazine on this model as an alternative to the Deathwatch Frag Cannon or the Anvil Industry model that I shared recently.

Junk Bases

As I've said recently, the bases for your miniatures can have a profound impact on how they look on the battlefield. I build some of my own bases but buying resin bases like these is a really quick way to save time and get a great looking base for your models. I really think the extra cost is a damn fine investment for an army. Kromlech have them in multiple sizes as you would expect.

I'm in pretty regularly contact with several companies now to give me up to date info on the products they've got coming out and I'm hoping to keep sharing these with you to help people be aware of all these super cool alternatives to the GW product range, hopefully I'll have more to show you soon :)

Review of Kromlech Products

Hi Folks.

I recently purchased a few things from Kromlech games. I just thought I would do a quick run down of the products I was very happy with the quality of these purchases and they deserve the recognition of that I feel.

The products I bought are pictured below:

These are exactly as the products came out of the packaging and I was very impressed that only the one set of legs came on a sprue, with all the rest already detached with absolute minimal flash attached the end piece. 

The swords were the Ripper set,, you can see above, that there was some slight warping, but the resin feels nice and flexible and I expect that they will bend back nicely when warmed up in water. 

The two set of legs to the far right (legionary legs and legionary bionic legs) will make up some heresy marines I am planning on adding to the Betrayal at Calth box set models as veteran squad models. The set of legs to the far left (legionary biker legs) are designed for mounting on bikes and these will be used with my 30k dark angels as jetbike mounted models. The jetbikes I will be using are from Maxmini and I will review them later this week or early next week. 

The legs all came in sets of 6 and were £5-7 each which I think is bloody excellent value! The swords were the same sort of price and came with 2 of each style in the box. Whilst the variety is good I would prefer to buy 6 of one type personally, but I will make do!
