Basing Blood Angel Terminators

G'Day!

If you hadn't guessed by the lack of updates I am still putting off the drop pod.. And as I am going home tomorrow I will be putting it off till at least the 28th of December when I need to take a large caffeine intake and just DO IT.

But as part of my impressively productive procrastination around this point I have now re-based all my blood angel terminators, by which I mean added extra detail to all of them and also finally panted the rims black to stop the red undercoated base rims from clashing so horribly with the red models.

Here are some before pictures:

And some delightful after pictures:

That is these guys completely done now! Apart from a matt varnish to protect them when the weather is being kinder!

In terms of expanding the red wing of my blood Angels, I have a drop pod that needs stripping and repairing and that will become the chariot of fire for my Furioso Dreadnought and I also have a squad of  assault marines that need stripping and converting a bit on the go somewhere. Finally I have my converted Sanguinary Guard that are built and just need painting but that is way down the project pile sadly!

Peace out,

Rob

  1. Lack of updates he says... I've had to post pretty much every day to keep up! You're like a machine, both in hobby progress and recording it. Its definitely motivational to keep me going, although I'm still debating if that's altogether healthy. I mean I'm only spending 1.5 to 2 hours a night, it's just it's between 10 and 12 and I don;t get to bed usually until 12:15 at the least and when I've got a 5:20 alarm call I often feel pretty knackered the next day. Unfortunately even when i take a break from the hobby I can't bring myself to have an early night - so that proves it;s not the hobby's fault, phew, must go and paint more figures!

    1. Haha I meant drop pod specific updates but point taken :P I am acutely conscious of being too prolific at the moment, I don't want to piss people off!

I find both hobbying and blogging very therapeutic and helps me concentrate better on work once I've had a good session of painting or building.

Plus I feel like I'm playing catch up when you and the guys below have such beautiful collections already!

  2. They're looking very nice indeed!

As Dave says though, lack of updates is somewhat an exaggeration! Mind you, I can't really argue, I've been putting lots of hours in on my Tau this last couple of weeks, including ages last night spent drilling slates and filling gaps on my second converted piranha (I'm dreading making that a 5-strong squadron!)

    1. Thanks Nick :)

Your Tau are looking brilliant and I'm looking forward to seeing the complete force. I'm particularly enjoying the conversions and magnetising as well.

  3. Sigh! I feel your pain with the drop pods. I have two waiting for paint but they are so horrible I just can't bring myself to apply paint to the darn things.
The termies look miles better with basing work you have done to them.

    1. I have another two waiting after this one and they will get similarly put off I'm sure too, especially if I get some forgeworld goodies after christmas... Its a shame they are both cool and effective in the game!

    2. Also I'm extremely glad to finally get the bases done, it completes them nicely!

  4. Good basing really does kick things up a couple of notches. The black rims on the bases give a much cleaner look, too.

    1. Yeah I've been meaning to do this for ages, but just a pain in the arse. The problem of using mephiston red undercoat spray!

    2. Yeah, at least when my Space Wolves end up with grey edges on their bases, it more or less fits with their basing. Blood Angels, not so much.
