Deathwing and Ravenwing Army Overviews + My Stupid Voice

Hey all,

So this is a short video going over the whole Dark Angels commission that I painted up, consisting of Deathwing and Ravenwing. The total points value for the entire batch is around 5600 points! I'm quite pleased with how they turned out in the end.

Apologies for the slightly low lighting, I'm hoping to buy some better lighting soon-ish so that I can make more videos of this ilk. To that end, comments on the content and delivery would be welcomed. Apologies if I come off slightly weird, I'm certainly not a natural for this sort of media communication!!

Peace out,

Rob

Master of the Ravenwing - Sammael AND Ravenwing Complete!

Let our foes look to the sky and know fear,

With special characters I often like to keep in line with the "official" colour scheme, as to my mind there is only one of them, and they would not necessarily have the same scheme as the rest of your custom chapter, but rather be leading them as a specific honour to their name.

With that in mind, Sammael is somewhat cleaner in his painting than the rest of the Ravenwing, but I am very happy with how he has turned out.

The final instalment for this Ravenwing force is the fliers, and here they are!

And so, finally, the Ravenwing are complete. The fliers have been based but not pictured in this blog post. The next you see of this, and the Deathwing, will be a video flyover of the whole army showing it laid out before it is picked up.

I hope you've enjoyed the gestation of this army as it has come to fruition :)

Peace out,

Rob

Ravenwing - The Command of Old

Fast, faster and faster still,

Whilst the Command squad of 7th edition is no more, they still form the elite of the Ravenwing and provide many excellent buffs in 8th edition, none more so than the banner in my opinion. But that is for another, different style of post.

I had a lot of fun painting the Command squad miniatures, they each provided their own challenges and each had to be approached differently. In particular the whites on the Apothecary and the banner on the banner bearer. Admittedly it comes with guide lines for a "paint by numbers" quality, rather than the glorious freehand many people are capable of!

I considered adding OSL on to the maul, but I felt like the dull quality it currently has better suited the brute force bludgeoning nature of the weapon. Just one of those gut feelings, more than an artistically sound idea. You can also see the finished style of bases in these pictures, which all the bikes and flyers now have. This was done to match the Deathwing so they can be fielded as a nice cohesive force.

Still to come is the Ravenwing Dark Talon and Nephilim Jetfighter as well as the big bad, Sammael himself. As of typing this, the army is done and just awaiting collection, with somewhere in the region of 4,500-5,500 points of Deathwing/Ravenwing total painted.

When Russ comes to pick them up, I will be setting them all out for him to look at and I'll take a panning video with some thoughts from me about the army over the top. Hopefully that will give you a better look at the armies as a whole.

Peace out,

Rob

Its Contagious! Nurgle Spreads Further...

Heyho, lets go,

Moar, moar, moar, how do you like it? Plenty of bits and bobs to touch up on these, like how I managed to miss half of the entrails on one of the heralds!? Not sure how that happened but I'm no genius so there we go. I'll be adding some extra blood splatter as well, but my lungs gave away (don't smoke kids) half way and so I lay in the recovery position instead.

I'm not a fan of painting nurglings just green, looks very bland to me, so I jazzed in a few extra colours for variety and liberally covered in blood and pus. I'm looking forward to seeing these once they have been returned to the owner and based to really finish them off.

Peace out,

Rob

Kromlech Releases - Chaos Winged Jump Pack

Hey all,

As I often do, rambling my way around the internet and looking in nooks and crannies for third party miniature bits, I come to Kromlech, and something always catches my eye! In this case, they have released some rather demonic looking jump packs designed for chaos forces.

These would do very well for a Night Lords army to my mind, or as an addition to any Warp Talon or Raptor squad. Bear in mind that these are resin, so a little bit of hot water should allow you to bend the wings to achieve less flat posing.

In the event of 8th Edition 40k rewarding themed armies, hopefully we'll be seeing more Night Lords armies and Raptors in general!

Peace out,

Rob
