Shattered Legion of Istvaan III - In Defence of the Emperor

Good afternoon all,

Today I've got shots of my entire 2000 point shattered legion collected together! This marks my second fully complete army for 30k, the first being the Solar Auxilia. The Auxilia will be getting a photo shoot at some point in the near(ish) future as well. I'm well on my way to building Belisarius Cawl to represent Anacharis Scoria, so my mechanicum should soon be complete as well (though I do have a small purchase in mind for them).

I built this force to represent the coalition of loyalist Emperor's Children, Sons of Horus and World Eaters in the aftermath of the virus bombing of Istvaan III. Whilst there were Deathguard on the planet as well, they were distinctly separated from the other three legions and so didn't warrant inclusion.

Saul Tarvitz, as in the novel, is the overall leader and so he is my Warlord for the army. Garviel Loken has a command squad to represent the squad he dropped in with, as well as a Tarik Torgaddon model to fulfill the two of them marching off to meet Abaddon and Aximand in a show down. Rylanor the Unyielding fills the the final special character slot having taking Saul's place in the original landing force. Other than that, I stuck to no vehicles as by the end of their resistance they would have been perilously low on fuel etc so it didn't feel right.

I hope it gives off the fluffy feel that I intended it too :) by far Garviel Loken is my favourite model, but then I did devote a lot more time to him! I hope to enter him into some painting competitions over the coming year, I'm keen to get him into a Golden Demon competition and see if I can get him to the photo stage!!

Peace out,

Rob

Emperor's Children Breachers Built from Anvil Industry

Hey all,

Following on from Captain Compensator yesterday, today I have my Emperor's Children Breacher squad. Aside from the shield and cut down MKIII power packs, these have been built entirely from Anvil Industry Exo-lord parts. I had to cut the power packs down to get a more flush fit due to the cloak, but I think they look perfectly fine especially given the none-standard look of the rest of the models! The shields are from the range produced by Laser Cut Candy as I have reviewed previously!

The Assault Squad have the final touches needing adding to their shields but other than that they are basically complete as well! Expect pictures of them and the Palatine blades coming soon. I also have my Saul Tarvitz conversion, but goodness I f***ked up his face, I may show you that as penance, but I'm trying to rectify it right now. This is why you should always keep your damn helmet on!

I'm also building some theory lists for my Dark Angels Commission so I'll be discussing those soon as well and hopefully give you some ideas for running a combine Deathwing and Ravenwing Strike Force army.

Peace out,

Rob

Emperor's Children Praetor Conversion

Hi Gang,

I've nearly finished my 1350 points of loyalist Emperor's Children which will be expanded into a 2500 Shattered legion force with World Eaters and Son's of Horus to represent the loyalist survivors that fought at the Prefectors Palace (The Death Guard were elsewhere).

Here's a few shots of my EC Centurion/Praetor conversion. The only model in the army to me majority based on a GW model! Though the blade, head and jump pack are all still third party pieces from Kromlech, Anvil Industry and Puppets War respectively, the body is based on GW's space marine executioner model. I stripped all of the purity seals off with a scalpel as best I could to keep it looking more pre-heresy.

The weapon represents a phoenix spear or a paragon blade depending on whether he is representing a Centurion or a Praetor respectively. For anyone who is interested the weapon is called 'The Compensator' ... ahem.

Look for shots of the rest of the army towards next weekend. I have to do some much needed work on the deathwing in my possession and then finish the final bits and bobs off on the EC.

Peace out,

Rob

The Loyal III of Istvaan - The Emperor's Children

Howdy all,

By now I imagine that it comes as no surprise that my 'secret' project has been some Emperor's Children, made primarily from Anvil Industry parts. This is a very small army that has not been designed to be competitive in any way, but rather to reflect the fluff of the loyalist Emperor's Children that survived the initial virus bombing and firestorm unleashed by the traitor legions on Istvaan III.

This means I haven't put any vehicles in the list, barring 3 jetbikes that haven't really seen any work thus far. So its very much a foot slogging element. Given the Tactical prowess that Saul Tarvitz shows in the books (or audobooks in my case), I have decided to use the Maru Skara rite of war. This allows 1-3 Elite/Fast choices to outflank and arrive on any pre-selected turn after the first.

This army is still very much a work in progress with all the shield arms still to do as well as back packs and jump packs for the assault squad and breacher squad. I've tried to use cloaks and helmet plums to distinguish between squads, sergeants and the elite Palantine blades.

In a fit of productivity this weekend I have completed the 20 infantry for the breachers and assault marines as well as the four remaining Palantine blades. I still have my Saul Tarvitz conversion, an Apothecary, a Legion Champion, a Vigilator and 3 x jetbikes to get going on but I hope you enjoy these half way pictures!

Answers on a post card!

Peace out,

Rob
