Ravenwing Land speeder commission work

Hey all!

Some work on a Ravenwing land speeder today, sans the multi-melta passenger. Really enjoyed painting this model, considerably easier to paint than I thought it would be, would relish painting a few more! And as it happens I might just get too...

Just a short post today :)

Peace out,

Calling the Culexus - Complete!

Hey all,

More commission work today! The Culexus assassin and the third of the Officio Assassinorum characters. Just the callidus left to do. My brief with all these assassins was to produce something close to the original paint jobs as shown in official publication. I think I have come closest to that with the Culexus so far. Albeit obviously not as good! But still happy with the output :)

Expect the Callidus to appear some point soon; she is built and awaiting undercoat and then we can call this job done :)

Peace out,

Rob

Deathwing Knights - Four Complete

Hey all,

Today I've got some Deathwing Knights for you. In keeping with the majority of this commission, I've kept everything just a little off the beaten path rather than copy the archetypal paint scheme to the letter. This has always been intended so that Russ, the client, can give them their own story as a successor chapter with their own little foibles. Also it makes the army just a little bit more unique on the table I hope!

I'm very fond of before and after shots, so here we have some shots of the Knights with just basecoat colours applied, aside from the drybrushing on the 'stone' aspects. But that needs to happen before any wash is applied to blend it all together.

And then here we have them all completely done apart from, as is usual with this commission, the bases.

I am very nearly finished with the infantry now, and after I've got them complete and the bases done, I will be putting them on my gaming table for some cinematic shots for you all together, I promise!!! Just a little longer to wait :)

Peace out,

Rob

Two Ravenwing Squads 95% Complete!

How do!?

So I've been beavering away on commission work to get it out of my hair and I've got 6 Ravenwing in two squads of 3 almost done! As always you notice things in pictures that escaped you in life, so a couple of the exhausts haven't been finished! The wheels can be ignored as they will be dealt with once the bikes are glued to their bases, they'll get a dark grey/black finish before being appropriately muddied up to match the bases.

I've got 4 DeathWing Knight on the go right now as well so they should be complete by weeks end, as well as work started on the final 4 DeathWing terminators as well as the final 4 Ravenwing. Then its only 2 Independent Characters in terminator armour to do, a nephilim jetfighter, 2 dreadnoughts and 2 land raiders to do! Phew! Plus I am starting work on the Culexus assassin this week (base already done), leaving only the Callidus untouched as of yet, but the base for that might get some love.

All shaping up to finish both of these before the end of January I hope. Only the Land raiders and Nephilim are giving me worries really!

Peace out,

Rob

New! Bedlam Fraternity Marines from Kromlech

Hey gang,

I spotted these new Bedlam Fraternity torsos and legs from Kromlech yesterday evening. I don't think its too hard to guess what they might be used to represent! Anyway I absolutely love the look of them both from a sculpt point of view but also the example paint job they have put on them, really lovely!

Pop over to Kromlech if you want to grab some :)

Peace out,

Solar Auxilia - The Final Push - Malcador Infernus WIP

Hey all,

So much the same with my mechanicum I don't have a lot left to do with my Solar Auxilia to complete them as an army. In fact between the two armies I only have 4 units to paint! However that 4 units includes 3 super heavies! I have yet to complete the build on the Imperial Knight for my mechanicum, but the Stormblade and Malcador Infernus have been primed and ready to go for some time, and over the weekend I managed to get the most laborious part of the Malcador finished - the red basecoat.

This is laborious because its achieved through a layer of bloodletter glaze followed by a layer of carrobourg crimson on top. Being as thin as they are, they respond very much to gravity, so each surface of the tank that needs the red has to be balanced flat for the glaze and allowed to completely dry before I add the crimson wash and allowed to completely dry, thus stopping pooling towards the bottom of the panels.

Lots of flipping the tank and leaving it alone, sometimes quite precariously balanced with blue tack support! Anyway, now this stage is done, when I have the time I should be able to (relatively) motor through the other base coats and finish it off. Then just the Stormblade to do which I am dreading!

Peace out,

Rob
