Sons of Wrath - Chapter Master Ansgar Hutto

Hey diddly ho,

As I've previously mentioned, this chap is not actually a Primaris Marine in terms of the army, purely because you can't give a Primaris Captain or Chapter Master a jump pack. Why this given that Inceptors have jump packs so it's clearly within the remit of what is capable with gravis armour is beyond me...

Obviously this model is converted from the standard Captain model in Gravis armour that comes with the Dark Imperium. I've just added an Inceptor jump pack and kit bashed a combi plasma for the elft arm instead of a boltstorm gauntlet (cause they are naff) and I also changed the blade around on the sword as I wanted it to look more like the Relic blade that he is equipped with. This is a sword from a Dark Angels sprue I had lying around, with the wings on the tip filed off.

I wanted him to stand out (as any respectable leader should) and so he is full on blazing orange with no grey. Good lad.

Obviously the base still needs doing. But also plenty of other bits need touching up or improving. I'm just aiming to get this whole army to a ready for the table level, before I go back and re-do various aspects of them, as well as add detailing for squads and rank etc. I mean, all of the jump packs across the army need the glow doing too... le sigh.

After comments, I will probably go back and re-do the plasma glow for all the infantry as well. Sadly having completed it all before the post and thus comments went live. When the Redemptor Dreadnoughts are posted you can see the revised style.

Peace out,

Rob

  1. Whaddya mean the boltstorm gauntlet is naff??? ;) Use Crimson Fists tactics mate and call it the fist of vengeance, then it becomes incredibly-diddly-do! Especially with extra attack warlord trait and might of heroes. 7 attacks hitting on 2's re-rolling 1's and doing a flat 3 damage each? Yes please!

Notwithstanding all that, this dude looks great, I think personally I'd have stuck with the original head (well I would wouldn't I, because I did!) but he's going to fit in whilst still standing out from the rest of the collection really well!

  2. Awesome paint job. I like the colours you've used. I especially like the glow of the powersword and plasma.

I like the Terminator head. Though I'm a fan of the Maximus Armour heads on the Primaris marines (it's my favourite Heresy era armour so I'm biased already), I don't really like the heads of the Aggressors and Inceptors. But the Terminator helmet in the Gravis armour is definitely an improvement.

    1. Cheers man! I thought the termie head was a good match overall. The cavity is a little larger than usual because of how the jump pack meshed with the gravis armour of the captain but the heads propped up on a bit of sprue too

  3. Great job mate, except for the big mould line along the top of the Plasma Gun, newbie error ;) Love the cloak colour contrasting with the orange, the Termi helmet is an interesting point, it looks a little large but marks him out as different than a Gravis Capt so is a good idea.
