Ravenwing return - The Black Knights Ride

Hey hey hey,

As promised the Ravenwing have finally returned to the blog! They haven't been silent these past many months, progress has been solid and steady. Different from the previous Ravenwing and Deathwing, I also had to build these miniatures, and as such that has slowed the progress greatly. 

Here are the Black Knights that are nearly ready for the battlefield, they just need the bases finishing with some grass, which is currently waiting to be posted to me.

In addition to these, you'll be seeing some land speeders, flyers, elite choices that are all ready or nearly ready for them to be picked up. 

The only miniature that has yet to be started as I write this is, is the big bad man himself, Sammael. I've left him to the end as I want to give him my fullest attention over a weekend. These should be picked up a month from this post along with the Deathwing, and I am looking forward to someone playing with them!!

MOAR Nurgle - The Rot Continues

Hi there,

Soooo I may have said that there would be Ravenwing today... BUT I ended up forgetting to take pictures of it as I was brought low by general fatigue and just snoozed most of the weekend away... I regret nothing. That said, the Ravenwing is complete barring 3 models that have sat sulking for some time now... But as they are being picked up soon in March, they are on the painting block this week, now that I have caught up on some much needed sleep. 

In lieu of the Ravenwing I have some more Nurgle that has not seen the light of day yet (or a bath) so have at this for the time being. On my honour, Ravenwing will appear on Thursday, and there will be lots of them!

Nurgley Wurgley Woo - Special Characters and Plague Burst Crawler

The rot god says hi,

Just a quick look at some special characters and an additional plague burst crawler I painted recently. Coming up on Monday we will actually have some RAVENWING!! My goodness, the times we live in.

All the Nurgle special characters are really delightful sculpts, the Tallyman in particular, who has yet to be painted is festooned with delicious detail and some adorable nurglings to boot. I am on the final stretch with this force and indeed with the Ravenwing.

Death Guard Terminators - An Ode to Batch Painting

Hey hey hey,

So as I am going onwards and upwards with the Deathguard for Winters Seo and in pursuit of getting them done pretty quick sharp, I decided to batch paint 16 Deathguard Terminators at once. Now, I feel like had they been normal terminators that would have been somewhat tough, but fairly doable. HOWEVER, my god these sculpts are SO damn detailed, they are truly pretty beautiful and I would happily sing their praises over and over. But they are not conducive to batch painting what-so-ever...

I would also say, that if you are a relative newcomer to painting, then maybe warm up to these chaps, they would be a challenge for the vast majority of painters to greater or lesser extents. I certainly found them to be a long long haul with so much detail to get through. 

Anyways, they're off with their owner now so here are some pics before I dropped them off:

 The top right chap has an off blue cape because I forgot to paint it red or purple and so just applied the colours I had to hand on it. In retrospect I wish I had done more of the cloth that colour as I quite like it as it goes. 

I still have 4 more of these bad boys to paint, as well as some plague marines, some blight drones, Typhus, the tally man and of course the Big M to the Ortarion.
