So I've finished this beast of a model! I'm not 100% happy with the hair, but then I do struggle with white. I spent a good chunk of time matching colour palettes to see if other hair colours would work, but I concluded they would either clash or get subsumed in the rest of the models darkness, so white it was.
Overall though, I'm very happy with how this turned out! I'm looking forward to putting together a small force of metallic black and burnt red styled Eldar. Don't worry however! Whilst the list will inevitably be middling to strong due to the inherent strength of the Eldar codex, you won't see me running wraithguard or scat packs. Wraithblades on the other hand...
Anyway, pictures!
Peace out,
Rob
Lovely work Rob, have you one on a White Background, it's hard to make out his black armour? Love the alternative colour scheme to the stock GW one.
ReplyDeleteI have a real hard time with white backgrounds, but I think I have nailed it now :) cheers as always mate!
DeleteLooking great! Definitely kicked up a few notches from the preview post.
ReplyDeleteYeah its one of those models with so many little bits to keep you going!
DeleteWow Rob this looks fantastic. Love the dark red going into black of the power surge, and the black body and green sword are great too. Love the effect on the sword. Very well done. My only criticism would be the white hair at the top front. I think it needs a little more shading in the recesses to get the streaks, as the drybrishing has covered some of it. Maybe a very thinned down wash just applied in those areas would do the trick
ReplyDeleteI had a go as you suggested mate and it definitely helped it out, thanks very much :) I'd love to see what you could do with this model! Or even how you would convert up a Danse Macabre equivalent :)
DeleteVery nice work Rob, you'll make a great filthy Eldar player! I would like to see it on a white background though. I think the black is obscuring a lot of the body detail on this model.
ReplyDeleteHopefully the new pics show it off better :)
DeleteI will be running my Eldar in an odd semi competitive way! I'll either get smushed or smush I think, you're probably in my top three list of opponents to test my mettle against... oh yes!

ReplyDeleteReally like the job done on the swords and the energy, what process did you use to colour the swords like that?
ReplyDeleteI think it was a base of warpstone glow, then just drybrushing with progressively brighter green, moving towards moot green, then mixing some yriel yellow into moot green. Just dragging really small drybrushes across quickly to get the small marble like lines. I think the final drybrush will have had some ulthuan grey in it as well for a really light green/yellow splash.
DeleteThen a light waywatcher green glaze to tie it all together.
I hope that helps :)
