So I have been busying myself behind the scenes despite few painting updates of late. I now have all of my infantry painted for my planned 1850 points force of Alpha Legion! But I'm waiting to set them up for some properly decent photos before I show you the finished bunch. Today instead we have my work on my dreadnought drop pod.
As you'll not doubt be aware I am going for a very battle worn look on these guys so a drop pod, blistering through the atmosphere as they do, was always going to be a good place to go to town with beating the shit out of a model. Here are the fruits of my labour so far!
Still a bit to do, but on the home stretch right now. I've no doubt I could have done some things better but overall I'm happy with how it is pulling together. I had a real crisis of faith half way through when I thought it looked like a dog turd cooking in the summer sun, but those extra layers as you build to the end has started to pull it together as a piece.
Thoughts and help are, as always, welcome :)
Peace out,
Rob
I love how battered it looks! Great stuff!
ReplyDeleteCheers Andrew :)
DeleteLooking nice as always - I can guarantee I will not be attempting one of these for my heresy stuff! Normal 40k ones are bad enough but I've heard lots of horror stories about the bigger version!
ReplyDeleteWell they've got more expensive points wise so another reason to steer clear! Vile things to build mate.
DeleteI like the lights on the ramps; great idea!
ReplyDeleteThanks neverness, I saw it done on some google images and it does give a nice pop
DeleteLovely work! Really dig the OSL on the lamps - good stuff!
ReplyDeleteCheers dude! Still trying to get up to your level!
DeleteLooks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteLove the lights too
ReplyDeleteThanks Siph!
DeleteThat came out nice, the OSL was a nice touch. Have you darkened it from the bottom up or is that just shadows?
ReplyDeleteI've started darkening it from the bottom up but have a lot more to do
DeleteThat is a beaut of a pod. One day I'll have an actual one, instead of just using my standard drop pod like an el cheapo!
ReplyDeleteHaha thank Greg! When you have as big a collection as you do I don't think you can be all el cheapo :P
DeleteNicely done. I just got two of them in the mail myself. That is an intimidatingly weighty kit. Hopefully gonna have the SW one ready to go for a Tournament next weekend, but who knows if it's actually gonna happen.
ReplyDeleteThey are so heavy! Nah man, with your output you definitely can :)
